My poem ‘A Museum Closes in the North’ is published in today’s Journal, and featured yesterday on the Newcastle Evening Chronicle’s website. There is a
video of me reading the poem at St. Paul’s Church in Jarrow (the road opposite
the closed Bede’s World was too noisy) and of course, the poem features at the
bottom of the article, too.
I, like
many others, were shocked at the closure of Bede’s World, and look forward to
it reopening soon on firmer footing. Meanwhile, the final community heritage
(or ‘outreach’, as the article would have it) event of the Stringing Bedes
project will take place in March. Date and venue TBC, but I will post about it
in due course, in the hope of drumming up as many guests as possible, as this
project now seems more relevant than ever before.
